Friday is a very special day to Muslims. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “The best of your days is Friday. On that day: 1) Adam (peace be upon him) was created; 2) on that day he died; 3)on that day the Trumpet will be blown and 4)on that day all of creation will swoon……”(Abu Dawud 1047)
Sunnah Acts to do on Jumu’ah:
1. Take a bath
It is compulsory to take bath on Friday as Narrated ‘Abu Sa`id Al-Khudri that The Prophet (pbuh) said, “Ghusl (taking a bath) on Friday is compulsory for every Muslim reaching the age of puberty.” (Bukhari)
2. Putting on one’s best cloth and Using Perfume
Ibn Majah Book 5, Hadith 1151 It was narrated from Abu Dharr that the Prophet (pbuh) said: “Whoever takes a bath on a Friday and does it well, and purifies himself and does it well, and puts on his best clothes, and puts on whatever Allah decrees for him of the perfume of his family, then comes to the mosque and does not engage in idle talk or separate (pushing between) two people; he will be forgiven for (his sins) between that day and the previous Friday.”
3. Going early and Walking to the Mosque(it’s Sunnah)
The Prophet (pbuh) say: ‘Whoever takes a bath on Friday, and bathes completely, and goes early, arriving early,* and walks and does not ride (to the mosque), and sits close to the Imam and listens to him, and does not engage in idle talk; for every step he takes he will have the reward of one year, the reward of a year’s fasting and praying (at night).”(Ibn Majah)
4. Don’t jump over the shoulders of the Musallies in order to get to the front.
The Prophet (pbuh) said: “Whoever takes a bath on a Friday and does it well, and purifies himself and does it well, and puts on his best clothes, and puts on whatever Allah decrees for him of the perfume of his family, then comes to the mosque and does not engage in idle talk or separate (pushing between) two people; he will be forgiven for (his sins) between that day and the previous Friday.”(Ibn Majah)
5. Sit close to the Imam
As mentioned in the hadith above (number 3).(Ibn Majah ,Book 5 hadith 1140)
6. Reading Suratul Kahf
From Abu Sa’eed al-Khudri, who said: “Whoever reads Soorat al-Kahf on the night of Jumu’ah, will have a light that will stretch between him and the Ancient House (the Ka’bah).”(Narrated by al-Daarimi, 3407. This hadeeth was classed as saheeh by Shaykh al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Jaami , 6471)
7. Making a lot of Dua’
“There is such an hour on Friday that if any Muslim makes dua (Supplication) in it, his dua will definitely be accepted(In Between Asr & Magrib).” (Bukhari, Muslim) There are two opinions from our scholars concerming this hour: 1) It lasts from after ‘Asr until the sun sets or 2) from the time when the imaam sits on the minbar to deliver the khutbah on Friday until he finishes the prayer. Du’aa’ at either of these times is deserving of being answered Wallah ‘alam
8. Sending Salawaat to the Prophet(PBUH)
In shaa Allah lets practice this Sunnah. Remember also to share with friends and family Prophet Muhammad (SAWS) says: “Whoever revives an aspect of my Sunnah that is forgotten after my death, he will have a reward equivalent to that of the people who follow him, without it detracting in the least from their reward.” [Reported by al-Tirmidhi]”
