Nelson Community Masjid

Most recently, in 2023, we were winners of the “Community Together Award” in the Pride of Nelson awards. In 2022, we received the "Best Masjid Outreach Programme" in the UK at the National Beacon Masjid Awards held in London, recognising our service to the community. In 2021, we were winners of the "Community Contribution" award at the Pride of Nelson awards ceremony for our work supporting the community throughout the Covid-19 Pandemic and beyond.

The Foodbank was set up in September 2019 to help fulfil an essential need of the community. The aim of the Foodbank is to alleviate hunger in Pendle for everyone regardless of race or religion. The Foodbank delivers food parcels, hot food, clothing, and other essentials to the most vulnerable members of our community. To date, we have delivered thousands of food parcels and meals.
The Foodbank works closely with organisations across the North West. We have an excellent relationship with these organisations and support each other in achieving our aims and objectives

Services

Daily Salah

The management of NCM has always strived to create an atmosphere in the masjid that is friendly and welcoming to people of all ages. An atmosphere that provides comfort, safety, and hope. We welcome everyone with love no matter who the person is. Every single person coming to the masjid is coming as a guest in the House of Allah.  We are incredibly pleased that most of the regular guests are young people who attend with great enthusiasm to worship Allah.

Weekly Dhikr

The weekly dhikr is an excellent opportunity for families to come together and draw closer to Allah. It is a means by which much tranquillity is given to hearts and souls and spiritually reconnects one with their Lord. The short reminders after the dhikr are designed to boost our Imaan, and to provide support and hope to families. As always, our theme is about increasing love for Allah, His Messenger ﷺ and for one another.

Jumu'ah Salah

Our Friday speech is always in English and is intended to be relevant to our community and current social affairs. We address all issues affecting our community, including the most difficult and damaging issues. The Friday speech is an excellent opportunity to promote our key objectives and encourage people to turn back to Islam.

Mawlid

We hold regular mawlid gatherings where we recite poetry in English, Arabic, and Urdu in praise of our beloved Prophet ﷺ. The more we sing the more we will love him ﷺ. These gatherings are immensely popular with families and are means by which hearts are touched with love and serenity.
