THE ANSAAR PROJECT

VISION AND MISSION

Vision Statement:
To create a community where every refugee and asylum seeker is welcomed with dignity, supported with compassion, and empowered to rebuild their lives with faith, belonging, and hope.
Mission Statement:
Our mission is to stand with refugees and asylum seekers as they navigate displacement, trauma, and uncertainty—offering practical support and spiritual care in a welcoming, inclusive environment. Through this project, we aim to:
  • Provide essential support, including food, clothing, and emergency assistance for newly arrived individuals and families;
  • Offer a listening ear and emotional support, recognising the pain of loss, disconnection, and starting over;
  • Facilitate access to language classes, legal aid, and integration opportunities, helping refugees find stability and confidence;
  • Foster a sense of belonging and community, connecting newcomers with local families, volunteers, and mentors;
  • Promote dignity and empowerment, not dependency—encouraging refugees to use their skills, voices, and experiences for good;
  • Support the Nelson 2034 vision by building a community where no one is treated as an outsider—and where faith, justice, and mercy shape how we welcome and walk with the most vulnerable.
